AFOP 49: Threes and Company 28th Jun 2011

Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit.
-Ira Glass

This episode, Lyle and Dave of 5846 Films talk about following their passion and making things happen.

No, they don’t have a dog walking business or vaccinate children preparing for international travel.
This is A Fistful of Popcorn, damn it – they make movies and music and soon television programs!

That’s followed by some recapping, some gross guessing and a brief discussion of some of the best and worst trilogies.

Suggested viewing from Lyle of 5846 Films

See the episode art? When asked what is at the top of his recommended viewing list, Lyle suggests The Night of the Hunter from 1955…in case you were ponderin’.

I didn’t have a chance to listen to last weeks episode and just had a fistful of popcorn-a-thon, i would like to begin with, i couldn’t disagree more with how you guys felt about the green lantern, i thought the why they told the story was great. And now on to this weeks episode, pretty much agreed on the most part with your opinions and love listening to this show, constantly makes me laugh, can’t wait to do an episode. Keep up the good work fellas.
